THE COURSE

Sault Ste Marie Country Club, founded in 1901, began as a joint venture
between the Falls River Boat Club and the original Sault Country Club.
Situated on 177 acres along the St Mary’s River, with its classic looks and
style of play, is an eighteen-hole championship golf course. Designed by
acclaimed golf course architect Jerry Matthews, the club has hosted
competitive events dating back to the 1920’s. The Sault Ste. Marie Country
Club challenges the golfer by permitting a variety of approaches to each
hole.

Plans are in the works to open a “short range” adjacent to the golf shop, expansion of existing putting green, along with increasing the net height on existing range to accommodate the entire bag. The practice area is open daily, unless a group lesson is in session. Range balls are sold in bags of 40 – 45 balls each. The bags can be purchased in the golf shop.
